Cinco de Mayo.

So, it’s Cinco de Mayo. Or as we French refer to it, “The Day We Tricked You Into Thinking You Were Winners.” I’ve gotta give it to Mexico on this one. They defeated the GREATEST MILITARY FORCE on the planet, while wearing something I would sport at a dinner party. The Battle of Puebla was pretty crushing for us. Maybe we were too distracted by the fact that Ignacio Zaragoza looked exactly like Stephen Colbert. That, and those uniforms.

I like Mexico. It’s very colorful. And they have the Day of the Dead, which seems like a fabulous excuse to dress up like a skeleton. Plus, Frida Kahlo was one of the coolest chicks of all time. That unibrow makes me so proud.

I thought I would show you my “I’m fun and feisty” corner of le château while you are all busy eating churros and tossing back margaritas. It’s only fitting for today. I painted the floor red, and Manon crafted that lovely chandelier from her school supplies. The pillows were stolen from Pierre, up the lane. He’s an artist and a hoarder (they all are) and I knew he wouldn’t miss them. Voila.

Bisous,
M.

Actually, Cinco de Mayo isn’t really celebrated in Mexico. It’s mainly an American holiday.
